Maybe you would like to know a little more about our history, our
pedigee, and our name? If so, read on.
The Q Wealth Report grew out of "The Q", a private newsletter started in
1998 by Dr Richard Cawte and originally published by his company
Quester
Press Limited in Bishop's Waltham, England.
Over the past decade, our focus has developed and grown. Whilst never
forgetting our basic theme of privacy and respect for the rights of
others, the newsletter has become more about wealth creation,
international or offshore investment, asset protection, real estate and
lifestyle than anything else. So, in 2008, we decided to change the name
to reflect those developments.
What's in a name? Let's look first at a definition of wealth from the
Oxford English Dictionary . It stems from the word weal which has several
meanings:
-
Wealth, riches, possessions
-
Welfare, well-being, happiness
-
The welfare of a country or community: the general good
So you can see, calling our newsletter The Q Wealth Report does not
restrict us simply to talking about money because the word "wealth"
implies so much more than simply material success. It encompasses
happiness and well-being, as well as a sense of the "general good".
And why the letter Q? Well to arrive at our practical solutions, we must
first of all think more deeply, and avoid the constant dumbing down of
the mainstream media. Q is a mysterious letter that you can think about
on so many levels...
Richard Cawte writes:
I wanted a title that did not give away (on the front cover) what the
newsletter was about, so that people could feel comfortable reading it on
a plane or a train knowing that no one else knew what "The Q" stood for.
So, privacy was one of the original reasons for choosing a letter rather
than a marketing-led "title".
Here are some of the layers of meaning that resonated with me when I
picked the name - each one being a part of the reason for the choice of
the letter "Q" as the title. It is not an exhaustive list, but it gives
you some ideas…
"Q" numerology: "Q" is the 17th letter of our alphabet. Hermetic
tradition sees the number 17 as the number that represents the foundation
of all things in the physical dimension. 17 is made up of 1 and 7 and 1+7
= 8. The number 8 has long been associated with success in Chinese lore.
"Q" history: The letter "Q" has long been regarded by etymologists as the
"Heretical Letter" of the alphabet. When I was choosing a name for the
newsletter, I nearly went with "The Heretic", but steered away from it
because of its religious connotations. "Heretic" in fact means simply:
"Q" language: "Q" is for the "Quest" for knowledge of all sorts,
especially knowledge you can APPLY to life. "Q" is for "Questioning": to
be like a child, forever asking questions, forever seeking new answers,
knowing that EVERY answer is the right one.
"Q" is for "The Quickening" - something I have written and spoken much
about - the awakening of the human mind and spirit to new possibilities
as we reach the shift that will come with the 2012 changes predicted by
the Mayans and many others.
Q is for "Qubit": the recently discovered unit of measurement created
when scientists pass an electrical current simultaneously clockwise and
anti-clockwise around a hyper-conductive metal ring. This will have huge
implications for the efficiency of our data-storage and the power of our
computers.
"Q" is for "Qabbalah": the collection of writings that form the backbone
of most, if not all, modern philosophy, religion and understanding.
"Q" is for "Quantum": I am a great believer in the interconnectedness of
all living things, which is the basis for Quantum science and metaphysics.
I really like the fact that science and mysticism are now coming together
as we at last re-awaken to the knowledge that the ultimate language of
the world around us - the language that is encoded both in our DNA and
the blueprint of all life forms - is the language of feeling. (See my
website www.richardcawte.com for more on this)
This is not "new" knowledge (I do not see any knowledge as being "new").
It has been known in most cultures across the world and is still
understood in some of the "uncivilised" places that exist today (I use
that word deliberately: "civil" meaning simply "of the city"), but
Western Man filed the knowledge away and forgot it for some centuries. In
some cases, it was deliberately destroyed (as with the burnings of the
Libraries of Alexandria in the 5th century and the destruction of the
Cordoba scrolls more recently) and in other cases we have simply ceased
to see ourselves as organisms born with all the knowledge we need and
surrounded by all the information we require.
The Anglo-Saxons called Quantum physics "wyrd" (which is where our modern
word "weird" comes from): they saw the web of interconnectedness in every
aspect of life and knew that their actions did not take place in a vacuum,
but rather were felt in every corner of the Earth. Happily, we are just
beginning to re-acknowledge that truth, and I believe it will be a
crucial part of our evolution in the years to come.
Celtic "Q": In the old Celtic alphabet "Q" is the letter "Quert", which
is represented in Ogham (the druid's tree-alphabet) by the Apple Tree.
The Apple has long been regarded as the tree of knowledge and of love. It
is said that if you eat the seeds of an apple whilst making a wish, your
dream will always be fruitful.
Fun "Q": We have been write about and assist clients with with personal
security products and services, a la James Bond. Of course the character
in the Bond movies who provided the hero with the best and most
innovative solutions, was "Q"!
